Colonie Soccer Club - Code of Conduct

The purpose of this code is to provide guidelines and expectations of the players, coaches and spectators.

Coaches

Coaches set the example by which players and parents must follow. Coaches are expected to exhibit good sportsmanship at all times. Coaches will teach players the rules of the sport and encourage players to follow these rules.

Coaches should treat other players, coaches, officials and spectators with respect.

Coaches are responsible for the behavior of their own players and any spectators associated with their team. Coaches are empowered to request spectators to leave the field if they do not follow this code of conduct.

Players

Players are expected to exhibit good sportsmanship at all times. Players will treat the referee(s) in a respectful manner before, during and after a match. Referees will be addressed as Sir or Ma’am. Players may ask the referee to clarify a call, but will not argue or express vigorous dissent, either verbally or by action.

Players should do the following:

Treat other players, coaches, officials and spectators with respect.

Control their emotions and speech.

Attend all practices and games unless excused by the coach.

Wear their team uniform in the prescribed manner.

Play to win, but when losing, to lose with dignity.

Follow the rules of the game at all times.

Parents/Fans

Spectators should do the following:

Exhibit good sportsmanship at all times.

Provide encouragement to players, referees and coaches of both teams.

Follow requests from the referee or the team’s coach.

Spectators should not:

Harass players, coaches, referees or other spectators.

Stand on the team’s side of the field.

Stand behind the goal.

Enter the field of play during a game.

Use abusive language at any time.
